Kaohsiung, Taiwan; Home of Many Pinoys OFW
Filipinos are everywhere some say "you can find Filipinos in every continent of the world" this may be true because Filipinos are counting almost 113,000,000 as of January 2023 according to Worldometer, adding to that Filipinos are skilled workers, competitive, and trustworthy so it's not surprising to find a Filipino (OFW) from the biggest to the smallest countries on earth. There are many personal reasons why a Filipino wants to work abroad but the top on the list is family-related; to build their dream house, to have their children a good education, a first-time parents who want a better life for their family. Whatever the reason Filipinos wanted a desirable-paying job that can give them a financial advantage over working in their home country. I, myself a first-time OFW working in Taiwan.
Taiwan is a tiny country; smaller than Luzon island or maybe about the same size as Samar island, Leyte, and Negros if the three are comprised. Economically this country is "blessed" because it is the top producer of microchips and computer peripherals, and the top producer of semiconductors in the world. The government of Taiwan's economic policies propels Taiwan's continued economic growth.
On the other hand, the Philippines is benefiting from Taiwan's economic growth by sending skilled workers to supply the needed manpower for manufacturing industries, in return, the Philippines earn economically from the remittances of OFWs. Technically this means when an OFW sends money for their families back home they have more money to spend which can help the Philippines economy to grow.
Taiwan has many economic zones where manufacturing companies are located; Taipei, Tainan, Taichung, and Kaohsiung to name a few. In this article, I talk about "Kaohsiung, Taiwan: The Home of Many Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW)". Filipinos are not the only foreign workers in Taiwan; Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malaysian, Thai, and some countries in Europe are working in this country. Also, many foreign students are studying here, and courses related to manufacturing are in demand including; chemistry, engineering, and information technology (related to robotics).
In Kaohsiung, ASE Holdings is the biggest company it employs thousands of Filipinos most of them are female. ASE has multiple buildings located in Kaohsiung Economic Zone. Outside the zone, there is a place called "MABUHAY" This is heaven for Pinoys because multiple Filipino stores are located in this place it has lots of karinderya, grocery stores, gold and gadgets stores, and money remittances like LBC.
Most of the workers in the processing zone use motorcycle some uses a bicycle and other has shuttle buses; transportation is not a problem, and traffic lights are everywhere even in the most minor corner of the city. Taiwan's road structure is equipped with high-tech CCTV that can capture car or motorcycle plate numbers and can detect over speeding.
Park is huge in Kaohsiung one of the biggest is Metropolitan park which has a basketball court and tennis court it is an open field with greeneries people can do sports and recreation in this place: jogging, biking, Zomba dancing site seeing walking, and even quiet spot to relax.
